JIM OVERMYER

Return to Junior's Program Central

I’m Jim Overmyer and I am 12 years old. I was the first person in my family to own a Border Collie. His name was Oogie and I loved him a lot. He slept with me every night and we played soccer together during the day. Oogie was afraid of storms and fire crackers and one year the neighbors were setting off a lot of fire crackers and Oogie got scared and jumped the fence.

After Oogie was gone I was very lonely so all four of my grandparents and my mom and dad bought me another Border Collie from Heidie Schramm of Hot Shot Border Collies. She was so nice to me and let me have pick of the litter. I named her Hot Shot Rolling Thunder and call her Rollie. The first weekend that I showed her she won BOB against some specials. I have also shown her a few times in junior showmanship but honestly, I really just like Rollie because she is my friend. She sleeps with me at night and is always happy to see me.

My sister took over Rollie’s show career and Rollie was BOW here at the specialty in 2004 and is now a champion but that doesn’t really matter that much to me. I just love Rollie because she is my friend. I am going to show her this year in junior showmanship at the specialty and I also showed her this summer at my 4-H fair. I won Grand Champion in Junior Showmanship and Jr. Care and Grooming.
