HERDING JUDGE JIM NEW

I started herding with my first Bearded Collie in 1991. I bought my first sheep in "93. In those days most of the early trial sheep were awful. I was determined to raise good trial sheep and started developing a flock in 1995. By the late nineties, I had the sheep I was looking for. My flock was used for testing and started A course at the first BCSA Specialty and has been, for all but the second specialty, until now.

Since I was furnishing the test sheep, I was asked to do instinct testing at the 3rd specialty and have been proud to have done so ever since. I now see people and dogs, who were at the first test, competing at the started to intermediate levels. In the past few years I have worked with or tested almost all herding breeds. Last year, I not only did the BCSA tests, but also the Samoyed and Greater Swiss Mountain Dog specialty testing. To date I have tested over 400 dogs.
