October 10-16, 2005

HERDING JUDGE JUDITH KELLY

I raced Siberian Huskies, and Alaska Huskies for 25 years in sprint races winning a gold medal (based on accumulated points in the International Sled Dog Racing Association. Many of my Siberian Huskies were exported to Canada winning on the trail and Best in Show. Five went to Norway to establish breeding, racing and show stock there. Kim a Border Collie was leading a team of Siberian Huskies, and after being around Kim I had to have a border collie.Kim went from bringing cows into a dairy to racing. I saw this dog gently herd a mouse into a kitchen match box.

I have been involved with the A.K.C. herding program since the beginning. I trial and train my Border Collies in A.K.C. as well as U.S.B.C.H.A.. Last year I qualified 2 open dogs and 2 nursery dogs for the Nationals Finals. I live on 10 acres, have 50 Katahdin sheep and a training facility that hosts an A.K.C. trial in December.
