As a judge I enjoy designing courses for a specific breed; this allows me to concentrate on courses that I think will work well with that breed. Having participated in agility for 14 years I have watched agility evolve, it has been quite a journey. Many of our then "Excellent" courses would hardly qualify for Novice level now. I have been judging for the AKC for eight+ years. (Has it really been that long?. It seems like I started yesterday.) In 2004 I had the pleasure of judging the AKC Nationals in San Diego, CA. My current competition dogs are a speedy Australian Cattle Dog and two lively Boston Terriers. In the past I have also competed with Rotties, a German Shepherd Dog and a Parsons Russell Terrier. I started agility as a "stress reliever" from high level Schutzhund competition; somehow agility has taken over my life and all of my spare time-but I enjoy every minute of it!! As well as a full time job, I teach one night a week at Skyline Agility Club. I am past President of Skyline and past Vice President of Mid-Hudson Kennel Club and was training director for Housatonic Police and Schutzhund Club. I joined a new flyball team this winter and am having a blast learning the rules and quirks of this sport. I wish good luck to all of the agility competitors at this specialty and may you and your partner both leave the course with a smile!
