JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP JUDGE GAYLE GARVIN

Garvin Corgis began in 1971 with the purchase of our first Pembroke Welsh Corgi. The showing and breeding of this breed has been a big part of our lives ever since. We have been the Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club Of America's Breeder of the Year and Obedience Breeder of the Year. We have bred and finished close to 100 Champions with the Garvin prefix. We bred the first OTCH male in the Pembroke Breed. This male was also High in Trial at the Pembroke National. We were the breeder/co-owner of a Best of Breed National Winner. This bitch was the first National Winner to have a CDX, TD behind her name. We have bred a National Sweepstakes Winner and bred and owned two National Best Puppies.

We purchased our first Cardigan Welsh Corgi 19 years ago. We owned the WB, BW, at the 1992 Cardigan National. We won Best of Breed at the Cardigan National that was held in Maryland. Our homebred bitch was Best in Sweepstakes t at the 1999 National in Houston. I applied to Judge for the AKC both Pembrokes and Cardigans, plus JS in 1993. I judge now 4 AKC Herding breeds.

By the end of 2005 I will have judged Juniors at FIVE National Specialties. I enjoy Specialties and I enjoy young people. A breed cannot progress without Specialty events, that include: A gathering of people who have common interest in breeding, conformation exhibiting, obedience, performance. The same applies to the youth in our sport. We need young people in every breed. They are the future of our sport.

Thank you for inviting me to part of your National Specialty.
