SPECIALTY RAFFLE DONATIONS NEEDED!

The 2002 Specialty Committee hopes to have another great raffle, but we need your help! Any items, big or little, would be very much appreciated. Items can be store-bought or hand-made. Contact Linda Schaal to let her know what you can donate. You can mail items to her up to a week prior to the specialty, or better yet, bring them along to the specialty. She'd prefer that large items were shipped directly to the Ramada Inn, and that any expensive items be insured for shipping damage or loss.

THE RED RAFFLE
Just when we think we've exhausted our collective creative brain cell, a new idea burned brightly over the horizon. After Marit and Nancie visited the Dog Museum last year after the National and saw the Dog Quilt display, Marit has dreamed of the possibility of doing a Border Collie Quilt equal to the incredible works of art seen at the Museum.

Dreams have turned to reality. The quilt is well under way with the primary color of teal, with donated quilt squares ranging from appliquéd BC's to appliquéd lettering (THAT'LL DO).

Some of the contributors are members Kathy Mason, Kathy Murphy, and Denise Teal. The quilt will be the main raffle item at this year's National Specialty, and it is PRICELESS!

The second prize in the red ticket raffle is a stunning Ladies Purse covered with the most beautiful Border Collie fabric you've ever seen. Border Collies with sheep and green pastures in the background - a real head turner. The purse is valued at over $300.00.

The purse is approximately 10" high by 13" wide and can be seen on the BCSA site in the Store (no longer in store 10.09.2004 - A Shaw, Web). A picture of the quilt will be posted there soon.

So that everyone would have a chance to win the Quilt or Purse, red raffle tickets were included in the Premium List packet, along with a return envelope addressed to Linda Schaal. If you did not receive a premium list packet, you can get in touch with Linda by email to order tickets.

RAFFLE ENTRY IS NOT MANDATORY; IF YOU DON'T PLAN TO ENTER THE RAFFLE, PLEASE SIMPLY DISPOSE OF THE ENCLOSED RED RAFFLE TICKETS.

You do not have to be present to win in the red ticket raffle. Just make sure the tickets, properly identified, are sent back to Linda Schaal. She needs to receive them before October 7th. To ensure they make it to her in time, please have them postmarked before September 23rd. You can also purchase and deposit red tickets at the Specialty or, if you can't make it this year and did not receive a premium list packet, you can get in touch with Linda by email to order tickets.

The drawing will be held after the Specialty Banquet on Saturday, October 19th. The first ticket drawn will win the Quilt, and the second ticket drawn will win the purse. Winners need not be present; prizes will be shipped, at no cost, to the winner.

The MAIN RAFFLE (red ticket raffle) features the incredible hand-made Border Collie Quilt. This is a true work of art made by BCSA Club Members and "Lily, the Quilt Lady". This will be awarded to the first ticket drawn.

The second winning ticket holder wins a fabulous purse with Border Collies Ben and Jeri in the field along with their flock of sheep. The purse was designed by Isabella Fiore and is definitely on any woman's most wanted list.

If the first or second winning ticket holder is not present, they will be notified by mail and will have 30 days from the date of notification by registered mail to claim their raffle prize. The prize will be shipped (if necessary and only if the winner is not present) at BCSA's expense (if within the U.S.) within 15 days of the "claim."

No substitution of winning is permitted except as may be necessary due to circumstances beyond the control of BCSA National Specialty Committee, in which case an item of equal of greater value will be awarded.

Acceptance of winnings constitutes permission (except where prohibited by law) to use winners' name for purposes of advertising and publicity without additional compensation.

If no winners claim their prize within the time allotted, at the discretion and direction of the 2002 National Specialty Committee, another ticket will be drawn and the notification process will be repeated until both prizes are claimed.

In the "on site" general raffle (a blue ticket raffle) tickets will be offered that must be placed in the bag next to the item(s) you have selected. You (or your ticket stub) must be present at the drawing during the BCSA banquet to claim your prize. No blue ticket raffle items will be held or shipped.

The SILENT auction will also be held "on site" at the National Specialty. Silent Auction items will consist of high quality unusual and unique items that club members have gathered especially for this auction, such as the footstool in the picture below.

There will be a "bidder's list" alongside each item with space for bidder's name and bid price. There may or may not be a minimum bid required. High bid winners will be announced at the BCSA dinner. SILENT auction winners must claim their items and make remittance at the dinner.

If the high bid winner is not present at the banquet, the next highest bidder will be announced.
