Of my 5 Border Collies, 4 have their Versatility titles from BCSA; the 5th is not old enough to compete in agility but we hope to make out debut at the 2008 BCSA Agility National. I Owner/Handle the dogs to Championships in Conformation and Agility and to the Intermediate level in Herding. I believe in “giving back” to a breed and venues that have enriched my life and happily volunteer for the following organizations: For the BCSA I have been a Contributing Editor to Borderlines, writing the column, The Agility Paige for 2007 and 2008. Writing is one of my hobbies and photography is another and on occasion I can combine both for these articles. I was Chairman for the Agility Seminar in 2007 and Co Chair in 2008, Chairman for the 2007 Agility Raffle and Co Chair in 2008 and in 2008 I will Co-Chair the Agility Trial with Jacque Hoye. In 2009, I look forward to Co Chairing the entire Specialty with Lisa Pruka at our first ever “roving” National! The 2007 Agility Raffle covered the Agility trophy deficit and contributed toward 2008’s prizes. Get ready for some more great agility Border Collie prizes! In 2004 and 2005 I was Chairman at the AKC Agility National for Exhibitor Check In and Exhibitor Bags. Sharon Anderson asked me to represent AKC Agility 2005 National on Public Radio Station broadcasting live from Tampa, the program was called “Talkin’ Pets”, live radio is character building! For the Treasure Coast Humane Society, I have been an Agility Instructor Volunteer for 2006, 2007 and 2008. I have really enjoyed the opportunity to work closely with the Director of Programs to help with training programs that will make the dogs more adoptable. Barbie, Blu and I participated in an Agility Demonstration for the Humane Society’s “Mutt March”. The Mutt March had record breaking donations in 2007 and raised $50,000 for this limited kill shelter. For the Palm Beach County Dog Fancier’s Association, I am currently the Recording Secretary and have held Chairman positions the past three years including Agility, Match, Publicity and Take the Lead Raffle Chairman positions. I also volunteer at the two Annual Herding trials (AHBA and AKC) for the Central Florida Herding Association and have worked nearly every position with the exception of stock handling, but I am willing to learn! Currently, I live in Florida and am employed by IBM as a Business Development Executive. I manage the SE portion of the United States for IBM’s Managed Services Division. It would be an honor to serve on the Board and support an organization established to pursue excellence for this phenomenal breed. Page Updated 05.17.2008 |
