For the past year and a half, I have had the honor to serve on the BCSA Board. As a Board Member I participated as the Agility Liaison and Versatility Chairman. Increasing membership and participation is an important goal for the health of the BCSA. To that aim, I received support from the Board to have the Agility Top 20 and Conformation Top 20 events which are BCSA Member events and have increased our Membership base. Over the past year and a half, I have brought eight new members to join the BCSA and volunteer for various aspects within the BCSA. Conserving costs and increasing revenues are other areas of importance to the Club. In 2010 I proposed a new printer to the Board which resulted in significant savings per issue of Borderlines while continuing to provide a quality product. The 2009 National specialty, which I Co-Chaired, was a profitable specialty for the BCSA and our first roving endeavor. Currently I have five Border Collies, all have their Versatility titles from BCSA; and I am looking forward to the first Versatility Excellent dog this year! I Owner/Handle the dogs to Championships in Conformation and Agility and to the Intermediate level in Herding. All of the dogs have been on stock and I am a huge proponent of “intended use”, time is my largest detriment in taking the fur kids further in Herding. Volunteering is a way to “give back” to a breed that has given me so much enjoyment therefore I am active in my local breed club as Recording Secretary. I also participate in the Sunshine Border Collie Club (BCSA Affiliate Club in the Southeast), as a Board Member. We have started a Herding Group Club in Florida and I am currently serving as Vice President. Locally, I work with rescue groups to help “train the trainer” to facilitate rescue animals having a higher adoption rate. And I have worked with the Canine Companion Institute which provides service animals to physically challenged individuals. I have also been an active volunteer for the BCSA, Chairing and Co-Chairing events (National Specialty, Agility), and Contributing Editor to Borderlines. Currently, I live in Florida and am employed by Peak 10 as a Corporate Business Development Executive. My mission is to create Peak 10 brand awareness and cultivate business partnerships in support of data center and managed server services sales. It would be an honor to again serve on the Board and utilize my relationship building and writing skills as Corresponding Secretary. Page Updated 07.05.2010 |
