Jamie Swanson

Recording Secretary

I first became involved with Border Collies when I wanted a dog as a 4-H project, 28 years ago. In October of 1989, I entered my first AKC obedience trial and have continued competing in AKC events, gaining titles in obedience, agility, conformation, and most recently herding.

I have served in the capacity of President and Secretary for the Border Collie Club of Northern California. I was a founding member of the Sierra Nevada Border Collie Club, as well as served in the capacity of President and Secretary. I served as the Assistant Show Chair for the BCCNC’s inaugural specialty show and obedience trial, Conformation Chair for the 2011 BCSA National Specialty in Oregon, and Chair for the SNBCC’s inaugural specialty and obedience trial. In addition, I served as the Hospitality Chair and Seminar Coordinator for the Reno Kennel Club. More recently I have undertaken the role of Herding Committee Chair for the BCSA, and am serving on the Judges Education and Member/Public Relations committees.

My husband and I currently share our home with our three Border Collies in Round Rock, TX. I enjoy training in herding, agility, and conformation, and occasionally I will breed a litter. My husband is a Senior Software Engineer, and I work as an Executive Administrative Assistant/Client Relationship Manager. I am also working toward a Webmaster Certification.

As I have more than 20 years experience as an administrative professional, I feel that my skills will best be served as the Recording Secretary position. My goal as Recording Secretary will be to provide prompt club-related information to the membership by utilizing modern collaboration tools that will assist the board in becoming an efficient team.
