BOARD MINUTES CENTRAL - SECRETARY'S REPORTS

 The
BCSA Board of Directors is trying something new -- we're going to publish
a brief version of our board meeting agendas about two weeks before each
meeting. This should help the membership stay aware of current issues we
are working, and give everyone a chance to comment on subjects before
the board reviews them. If members have input on any agenda item, they
can send it to Corresponding Secretary, Terri Clingerman:

BCSA Upcoming Agenda
Items - April 10, 2008 Meeting

Continued budget review, consider changing
the way we monitor budget to a monthly/more granular level.

Continued review of Borderlines, costs &
administration.

Online breeder classifieds: consider a
suggestion to police people who claim BCSA membership in their ad,
verify they truly are members.

Futurity project: discuss draft proposal
for a kick-off (shortened) version to be held in conjunction with
2009 specialty
-
Continued review of CHIC requirements,
committee continues to research options, several members have
commented on current ideas. We have a dilemma with the request for 3
required tests based on our survey results, since our survey
identified two top issues for which there are no standard
teststemperament and epilepsy, which could force us to adopt required
tests for problems with much lower statistical significance in our
breed.

Consider request from AKC CHF to donate
more of our Donor Advised Fund towards a Border Collie-specific
epilepsy research project

Judge Selection process for 2009: monitor
progress of timeline.

2008 Specialty: monitor progress.

2009 Specialty: review budget updates,
monitor progress.

Nominating Committee: progress report.
Gathering inspectors of election in preparation for fall elections.

AKC Lifetime Achievement Awards:
soliciting nominations from our membership to pass on to AKC.

PayPal: continue to discuss the
possibility of using it; Ann Shaw & Kathy Sours discussing the
feasibility aspects.

CBCA registration: review response from
AKC on why it was removed from the list of acceptable registries on
their website.

Goal setting & long range planning:
continued focus on where we should be going in the next decade as a
parent club.
