2004 TRACKING TEST RESULTS
Report written by: Jacqueline Hoye

Return to Tracking Central

We held our second BCSA TDX test in Hudson Wisconsin at Willow River State Park on Sunday November 14, 2004. Again, we had a very high success rate with three out of six dogs passing the tests. We had a perfect fall day of about 47 degrees and sunny. We originally had five Border Collies entered in the test, but one entry of two Border Collies had to pull the week before the test. So this year we had three Border Collies, a Golden Retriever, a Labrador retriever, and an Australian Shepherd.  Note: Click photo to view full-size.

The Australian Shepherd named Rush owned by Annette Cochrane drew track number one and started the day off right. They never faltered and were right on the track the whole way to a successful track and pass number one .

The second track was run by Doug Weil and his Border Collie , Rubi. After a difficult start and trouble on one of the turns Rubi was able to convince Doug to trust her and she successfully passed track number two.

Track number three was run by Joanna Yund and Border Collie, Spot. He had a difficult start as well due to an abundance of deer beds near the start but was able to get past that and worked the second leg of the track very well but then had difficulty on the second turn and decided to go the wrong way.

Track number four was a Golden Retriever named Alley owned by Becky Johnson. Alley had a difficult time getting started as well and wanted to visit with the judges- she did get to work and did the second leg fantastic and then got pulled down the second set of cross tracks.

Track number five was run by Wendy Sommer and Luna, a Border Collie. Luna and Wendy were a thing of beauty to watch. The run was flawless the whole way through for pass number three.

Track number six was Labrador retriever, Coleman owned by Pam Yurick from Canada. Coleman had a good start but then couldn't get past the first turn. This was his first try at a TDX so it was a good learning experience for them.

John and Darlene Barnard were our judges again and they did a fantastic job plotting very fair tracks for the dogs. We had a great group of track layers and cross track layers and also had a good crowd of spectators to cheer the dogs on. Overall the weekend was very successful and very enjoyable.

Track layers included Mary Baker, Joan Telfer, Chris Pawlenty, Michelle Schwartzbauer, Harold Syverson, and Marge Schultz; who also served as test Secretary. Cross track layers included: Judy Wilson (and test chairman), Sheila Koon, Jim Parent and Jan Heck. Jacqueline Hoye was the head track layer and hospitality chair.

The test committee included: Wendy Sommer, Joanna Yund, Jacqueline Hoye, Judy Wilson, and Nancy Little.
