SABLE MERLE - Registration Code: 166

Description: A Sable Merle is the Merle gene acting on a Sable base color. Because there is much less black pigment in a sable coat, there is less for the Merle gene to act upon, so the merle can be hard to distinguish. As puppies, one can often see small, darker patches or spots but these areas fade away as they get older.

A Sable Merle is produced either from a Sable Merle or by breeding a Sable to a Blue Merle. These should ONLY be used in a breeding program of experienced breeders with a good understanding of color genetics.
