2010 BORDER COLLIE NATIONAL SPECIALTY
October 18-24, 2010 - Purina Farms - Gray Summit, Missouri
JUDGE KATHIE KINTON

Return to Judge Central

Firstly my I thank the General Membership for putting me forward for the ballot. I can confirm that I would be honored to judge the Specialty in 2010 and I am available to do so. In terms of judging fees, as it would be such a pleasure to judge and of course, I would want to make a bit of a holiday of the trip, if acceptable to yourselves, then the cost of my hotel would be acceptable to me, I am happy to pay for my flights.

My love for the breed started when I was 10 years old and my father brought home a lovely black & white buddle of fun. Kim was from working stock and she worked the customers in my father’s shop!!! At nineteen I left home and of course got my own Border Collie, which I worked in obedience with some success. On meeting my husband Dave some years later we agreed to get me a new puppy to work as Bonnie was about 8 years. That was the start of our partnership in the show world – we started showing the puppy – Babsi (Whenway Babsi from Rosehurst), got best puppies and then her stud book number and we decided to get our own kennel name and a few years later bred our first litter. The bitch we kept from our first litter gained a R.C.C.

We have remained a small kennel and show a number of dogs and bitches either bred by us or connected to our lines. Dave loves the exhibiting side and I enjoy the breeding and judging. With our own and others we show we have several C.C. & R.C.C. wins. Currently, our two youngsters have both gained their Junior Warrant titles. Gem was Pedigree Chum/Our Dogs top puppy. Top Bitch West of England Border Collie Club 2007. Merlin is last year’s top puppy in the breed on the points system for both Border Collie Club of G.B. and WEBC. He has just been awarded a Res. C.C.

I feel it is an honor to judge our lovely breed and have now given C.C.’s in the U.K. on several occasions and judged in Europe details below.

  • Judging: Awarded C.C.’s at Border Collie Club of Great Britain, Bath Championship Show, National Working & Pastoral Ch. Show, and City of Birmingham Ch. Show

  • Referee: EABCC on 2 occasions (including judging the colour classes and Junior handling).

  • Europe: Belgium Border Collie Club 2007 CAC.  On several occasions I have judged the Pastoral Group at Open Level and this year had the honour of judging Best in Show at Kettering Open Show.

  • Future appointments: Due to give C.C’ is the U.K. in 2011 and Referee at Midlands Border Collie Club in 2010.
