CANINE GOOD CITIZEN (CGC) & THERAPY DOG INTERNATIONAL (TDI) TESTING

CGC TESTING INFORMATION

  • CGC testing will be offered on Oct 20th, Wednesday afternoon (starting at 4pm) at Purina Farms. Plan on bringing your well trained companion to earn his/her just deserve.

  • Teams passing the test will earn their CGC certificate from AKC as well as a special certificate from BCSA for earning their CGC at Nationals!

  • Pre-registration for a discounted price of $12.  Limited Ringside entries are available for $15.00. Details of CGC can be found at AKC's website.

  • Evaluator for the test will be Lisa McWilliams. Lisa grew up with Border Collies while living on a sheep farm in western PA. After moving to Ohio, marrying and raising a family, Lisa once again has Border Collies with a Aussie, and an old Golden to share the training fun. While Earning multiple titles in CONF, AG, OB, Rally, Herding, Lisa also teaching obedience classes, and is a 4-H adviser. Lisa has had many dogs and handlers in her training over the years making the CGC a complete joy to evaluate.

  • Trained dogs are wonderful ambassadors for responsible dog ownership. We all need to place our best foot forward in today's sensitive anti-ownership climate.

TDI TESTING INFORMATION (pre-registration is required)

  • TDI testing will be offered on Oct 20th, Wednesday afternoon (starting at 4pm) at Purina Farms.

  • For test requirements go www.tdi-dog.org.  Teams passing the TDI test will be able to begin therapy visits as soon as all paper work has been completed and approved by TDI.

  • Testing cost is $25.

  • Evaluator for the Therapy Dog International (TDI) test will be Elaine Kahn. Elaine is from the St. Louis area and has had a Border Collie since 1985. She has done volunteer work in the field of Animal Assisted Therapy/Activities since the early 1990's. She presently has a Registered Therapy dog (Border Collie) and a Registered Therapy cat.  Her Border Collie has over 200 visits under her collar at such venues as hospitals, nursing homes, libraries, schools and she is on a drill team. The cat has done hospice work and been part of a drill team.

  • Elaine has attended multiple therapy animal conferences and she helps teach obedience classes. She is active with her Border Collie in obedience, rally and herding.

  • Therapy visits can not only be rewarding to those visited but to the dog and handler as well. It is rewarding to me to put more qualified dog/handler teams out into the field.
