I have been in pure-bred dogs
since childhood. The first dog I showed belonged to our neighbor and it was a
chow puppy. I also rode horses and ponies and when I went off to college I took
my horse with me and I continued to ride and foxhunt in Virginia while in
college.
After marriage, I was unable to
keep my horse and later Bob and I got a German Shepherd Dog and we trained him
in Obedience and showed him in Conformation. After graduate school, I got Bob an
American Foxhound and we began showing and breeding Foxhounds. We were lucky to
have gotten such o good Foxhound and Bob put 16 Group wins and 4 Best in Shows
and over 60 Group placements on this hound, Owner/Handled. We have bred five
generations of Best in Show hounds Owner/Handled.
In 1978 I began to judge and my
first two breeds were American Foxhounds and Beagles. I am now an All Breed
judge for AKC. I have judged all over the world; Hound shows in Australia and
shows in Sweden, China, Japan and Thailand. My favorite assignment was the
Working Group at the 2005 AKC Eukanuba Invitational.
