Some of the memorable points in the Haybrook breeding program have been the numerous specialty winners including BOB, in 1987, at the American Miniature Schnauzer Club Nationals (Montgomery County), with a bitch, CH. Haybrook’s Shooting Match. We believe that this was the first bitch to win the AMSC Nationals. In Chihuahua’s, they teamed with Judy Sears under her Five Star Kennel name to breed, show and finish several smooth and long coat Chihuahua’s. In 1995, one of the Chihuahua puppies was exhibited and was awarded Best in Sweepstakes and Winners Dog from the Bred by Exhibitor Class at the Chihuahua Club of America National Specialty. The Chihuahua continued its career to be one of the top dogs in 1996 and then went on to Indonesia to become one of its top show dogs. With several champions in Japanese Chin’s, one of them was #4 in 1997 even with him as its co-handler. For Samoyed, his puppy bitch went Best of Opposite Sex to Best in Sweepstakes at the Samoyed Club of America National Specialty in 1997. Regardless of the breed, most of the dogs shown from Haybrook Kennels have been owner finished from the bred-by-exhibitor class. Mr. Lashbrook has served many local and regional clubs in many various capacities from Secretary, Treasurer, and Vice President. He has also served as Show Chairman for his local all-breed club for many years. You could say that he is always going to the dogs. Mr. Lashbrook has been approved to judge for the AKC since 1998 and is currently approved to judge the entire Working Group, the Chihuahua and Japanese Chin in the Toy Group, Miniature Schnauzers in the Terrier Group, and Junior Showmanship. He recently added 7 Herding breeds to his judging repertoire. He is considered a breeder judge in Miniature Schnauzers, Chihuahuas, Japanese Chin, and Samoyed and is an approved breed mentor for the Samoyed Club of America. In 2004, he judged in Australia for the Schnauzer Club of Victoria at their State Specialty. In his spare time, he works at St. John’s Hospital in the Alzheimer’s Day Services Unit. He is also co-owner in a boarding kennel that specializes in boarding small and medium sized dogs.
