I grew up around livestock and "border collie type" dogs in a small town in North Carolina. I started training these dogs at an early age to help herd livestock, mostly cattle and goats and even horses. By the time I was 18 years old, I had a reputation of using my dogs to help local farmers catch their rouge cattle and goats. It was a trial and error adventure and I was lucky that my dogs or myself never got seriously hurt. My first purebred, registered Border Collie was a rescue from a local animal shelter. He worked and lived out his life until he was 16 years old with me. In 1988 I purchased a Border Collie puppy from Jack and Kathy Knox, "Ettrick Bonnie Bell". By then I was attending Jack Knox clinics on an annual basis. Jack soon become my mentor. I went on to train and trial that one dog from Novice up through Open level and even qualifying to the national finals in the Border Collie trials. In 1999 I entered my first AKC trail with the same dog who soon received her HX and Herding Champion, Her progeny has followed suit and I became not only a judge for Border Collie trials but also for the AKC, AHBA, CKC, and I have competed in ASCA trails at all levels from the year 1985. I contribute my success to all my first dogs, especially to" Ettrick Bonnie Bell", to my family for their support all these years and to Jack Knox for his guidance. My husband, daughter and I live in Oxford, NC . I give customized training lessons, clinics and demonstrations and judge throughout the country. I competed in 2006 and qualified for 2007 in the ABCHA National Cattle dog Finals with "Bel-Jac Duck" one of the Granddaughters of my " Ettrick Bonnie Bell".
