Blood Draws for
CEA/CH, CL and TNS – Friday, October 19, 2007
Volunteers will draw blood for submission for any of these genetic
tests. The CEA/CH and CL tests will be submitted to Optigen and the
TNS test will be sent to Dr Alan Wilton of the University of South
Wales. Payment will be made directly to these 2 institutions and
more information will follow. It will be a 20/20 satellite clinic.
ANNOUNCEMENT
9/4/07 - CEA TESTING AT THE SPECIALTY
OptiGen has changed
the way that they are handling "satellite" clinics for the tests
that they provide. As a result, BCSA will not be able to offer its
own 20/20 clinic at the specialty. I have been waiting to see if we
had enough interest to do our own 20/20 clinic -- which means we
MUST have 20 samples to send in -- and we don't have that many
people who are planning to attend the specialty that would like to
participate.
So we will be using a satellite code from an event earlier in
October: The discount code for the October "satellite" clinic is
ACDNS070924. This code will be available from September 10 through
October 5. The samples should arrive at OptiGen between October 1
and October 5. Please visit the OptiGen website at
www.optigen.com
to register for the clinic and find instructions for submitting
samples.
This means that we will not be offering blood draws for CEA/CH or CL
testing at the specialty. If you wish to participate in the 20/20
satellite clinic, please use the code mentioned above. We will still
be doing blood draws for TNS testing because that doesn't require
any minimum number.
Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but it really is our only
option at this point. When OptiGen's new procedures go into effect
for satellites (in January 2008) we will be able to do something
again at the 2008 specialty. ~ Lisa Pruka, BCSA Health Chair,
