Chris
began showing and breeding German Shepherds in 1965, adding
Bearded Collies in 1977. More than 50 Walkoway Beardies and
Shepherds finished their Championships and Register of Merits
and nearly 60 boast performance titles.
She began judging in 1995 and has judged in Finland, Australia, New Zealand, Korea, South Africa and is scheduled to judge in Colombia and the UK. Chris is approved to judge all the Herding and Working breeds and groups, several Sporting breeds, Best In Show, Miscellaneous and Juniors.
Chris
is an award-winning author of many books and articles on dog-related subjects,
including Successful Dog Breeding and The Atlas of Dog Breeds of the World. Her
awards include Dog Writer Association of America (DWAA) Best Book, Book of the
Month club selection, National League of American Pen Women Best Non-fiction
book and a top reference book choice from the National Library Assn
She is the President Emeritus of DWAA and has served as officer and on the board of the BCCA, as well as several dog clubs.
