PERFORMANCE TITLED MATCH JUDGE GAIL STORM
Return to Judge Central

I started out in the obedience ring in the early 70's with an Irish Setter I had rescued. After that, I got busy with training and showing horses for about 20 years and taught pet dog training classes. About the mid 80's I started showing my rescue ACD in obedience and on the day I finished her CDX, I saw an agility demo and was certain that I had found something that I had to do with my dogs. My ACD couldn't do agility due to a back problem so I borrowed a friends farm dog. It just happened that it was a BC and that was it for me. I was hooked on BCs so deep that I have made them my life pretty much at this point. I also worked full time as a veterinary technician prior to accepting my current job, Senior Agility Field Rep for the AKC, on February 1, 1999.

I showed that borrowed BC named Babe until the family placed her due to a divorce. She was a wonderful herding and agility dog. But in the meantime, they had given me a puppy from Babe's first litter that was to become the dog that changed my life. That dog is Lyn ROMX, AAD, SM, GM, RM, OA, EAC, EJC, AG1, CGC, JHD, HSA-s, HTDs who will be 14 this December. Lyn was permanently injured in an accident as a 4 year old and could no longer be shown so she never really got to "prove" what she could do. However, her offspring have proven what she couldn't. I bred Lyn three times and currently own a puppy from her second and third litter.

I became an agility judge in 1991 and went on to judge for NCDA/UKC, NADAC and AKC. I have shown and titled six different BCs in agility since I started in the sport. My youngest dog Tag is 2 ½ years old and just getting started on his show career in agility and herding. Unfortunately, my current schedule doesn't leave much time right now for training and showing. In addition to a more than full time AKC job, I live on a 160 acre horse and crop farm. Both are pretty time consuming so I don't have a lot of time to spare usually. The neighbor has sheep down the road a half a mile so that when I do get a chance I can go and work a little with them.

I have shown in conformation some but due to time constraints, I haven't been able to do it a lot. I am hoping that maybe this winter I might get a chance to show my young dog Tag a time or two since he's not your normal color of dog (base white with black spots). My two dogs Bea and Lyn each have a five point major from the limited showing that I've done. I have always thought that a good "performance" dog should also be sound, beautiful and should be of size and type to do the job that they were bred for....herding.

My current dogs are:
Lyn ROMX, AAD, SM, GM, RM, OA, EAC, EJC, AG1, CGC, JHDs, HS, HTDI-s
Bea HTDI-s, PIII, AAD, RS-N, GS-N, JS-N, AXJ, AX, AAD, NGC, OJC, EAC, CL3-R, CL3-S, CL3-F, CL3-H
Rip JHDs, AAD, NGC, OAC, OJC, AAD
Tag HSAs, AD, SS, SSA, CL2-R, CL2-H, CL2-S
Dew (too new to have a title yet)
