OBEDIENCE JUDGE BILL OXANDALE
Return to Judge Central

I became interested in purebred dogs in 1973 when I acquired a Miniature Schnauzer puppy for a pet. I began exhibiting in the conformation ring, and although moderately successful, I soon became more interested in the obedience ring where I gained a great deal of satisfaction earning the first Obedience Trial Championship ever awarded to my breed. During that time, a modest breeding program produced two breed champions, another Obedience Trial Champion and a number of excellent obedience performers. I currently hold some 28 obedience titles on dogs I have owned, trained and exhibited. Licensed to judge at AKC obedience events since 1980, I have officiated at more than 600 obedience trials and shows. I am also approved by the AKC to judge rally and two terrier breeds.

At present, I am a retired Operations Research Analyst and live with my wife of 51 years in Crestwood, Missouri. I have degrees in Physics, Mathematics, and Business. I am currently a member of the North St. Louis Obedience Training club where I have served as President, Trial Chairman and Board member. My current hobbies include exhibiting in obedience, dog club tax consulting and I like to play a little Texas Hold ‘em. In 1955, I published a very successful book entitled, Obedience Judging – A Beginner’s Manual. I am very proud of this book…it is the first and only book ever published on this subject.

I look forward to judging obedience at your specialty and wish every entrant a very pleasant and rewarding experience in the ring. Good luck to everyone entered! Thanks!
