Dr. Lappin was born and raised in Michigan. He graduated from Michigan State University in 1972, as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, and moved to Massachusetts to begin his professional career.

He became involved in dog training through his Veterinary practice and began training his own Golden Retrievers in Obedience in the early 1990’s. He and his Golden Retriever, “Tess”, discovered Agility in the mid 90’s and began competing shortly after. Tess is now retired at the age of 13 years. He currently trains and shows twp Golden Retrievers, “Heidi” and “Joy” in Agility, Obedience, and Rally Obedience. Mike and his “girls” have achieved numerous obedience and agility titles.

A member of Yankee Golden Retriever Club he is on the Board of Directors and has served as their Obedience Committee chair. He is also a member of the Golden Retriever Club of America and currently serves as the Vice President, on the Board of Directors of the Golden Retriever Foundation.

He became both an AKC Agility Judge and an AKC Rally Obedience judge in 2004. He currently practices Veterinary Medicine at his clinic, “The Animal House”, in Buzzards Bay, MA.
